Service Description
Stylized Bird Carving Stylized bird carving focuses on capturing the essential form and character of a bird rather than achieving perfect anatomical realism. This approach emphasizes smooth curves, bold shapes and minimal detail making it a popular choice for new carvers or those interested in decorative art. Course Description: Students will use a profile pattern to transfer the design onto a wood blank. Students will use simple ratios, such as the “rule of three,” to help determine the placement of the bird’s head, wings and body. Some carving experience would be beneficial. The class will be limited to 10 students. Instructor Chuck Shelley Age restrictions: Adults and teenagers (13 - 18) permitted. Students, age 13 - 18 years old, must be accompanied by an adult. Tools and Materials: All tools and materials will be provided for the course. Cost (includes lunch): Non-members $45 ACWA members $35 Teens (13-18)* $10 * All students must be accompanied by an adult Cancellation Policy: Fees will be refunded on a case by case basis or if we can find someone to fill the spot.
